Venetian Resort Hotel Casino

Las Vegas, Nevada

THALDEN • BOYD • EMERY ARCHITECTS theme-drafting subsidiary, CadVision, provided detailed technical drawings for the interior and exterior themed facades for the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.

The 3,036-room Venetian, the first phase of a planned 6,000-room-plus resort, has a bell tower that is a full-sized reproduction of Venice’s renowned Campanile, right down to the 15-foot statue of the biblical archangel Gabriel on top. To get to the hotel, visitors walk across a reproduction of the famous Rialto canal bridge. The Rialto connects to a reproduced Bridge of Sighs, so called because prisoners in 14th- and 15th-century Venice had to cross its namesake on their way to jail.

The resort’s fine detail work includes canals; the Ca D’Oro, one of Venice’s most elegant palaces, defined by its intricate Gothic architecture; and the Cantarini Palace, noted in Shakespeare’s Othello.

Inside The Venetian are 19 dining venues, including 12 famous owner-operated gourmet outlets (even a branch of New York’s Lutece). The resort also debuts Studio 24, an interactive dining, entertainment and sound-stage experience developed by Warner Brothers. An 11-acre rooftop deck has five pools and the initial phase of the Canyon Ranch Club Spa.
